SULPHUR — The body of a Pauls Valley man was found Monday morning in a Sulphur lake, after he reportedly went missing while swimming Sunday evening.

Nathan Gonzales, 29, Pauls Valley, was found Monday in the Lake of the Arbuckles at approximately 10:30 a.m. by members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol dive team, 15 yards from shore in the same area where he was last seen.

According to witnesses, Gonzales was missing for approximately 20 to 30 minutes before they realized it, at which time they conducted a hasty search.

National Park Service employees arrived on the scene at approximately 7 p.m., and with assistance from by-standers, organized a human chain and swept the area where the Gonzales was last seen.

NPS boat and crew were dispatched and began dragging the area, again with no results. The search was stopped at 8:45 p.m. due to darkness.

The National Park Service resumed search and recovery operations at 8 a.m. Monday, and recovered the body a little over an hour later.
