ADA — An Ada man was sentenced Thursday for displaying obscene material to a child under the age of 16 in April.

Uriel Vargas Vasquez, 24, was originally charged with molestation and display of obscene material. On Thursday, Vasquez pleaded no-contest to the lesser charge and was sentenced to 20 years, 10 years in prison and 10 years suspended.

The victim told police someone known as “Rush” showed pornography on a computer and touched the victim in an inappropriate place. The minor later identified Vasquez after being shown a photo lineup.

Jim Tillison, assistant district attorney, said the lesser charge would spare the victim from having to testify and the victim will be an adult when Vasquez is released.
