A Sulphur man was injured when he crashed an all-terrain vehicle Wednesday.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Brian McGill said 82-year-old Dan Wesley Hughes was driving a 2007 Honda four-wheeler east on Dairy Road when the crash occurred.
“(Hughes) swerved right for an unknown reason and struck a mailbox,” McGill said in a report. “He was ejected five feet from the point of impact.”
Hughes was taken by EMS to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur, then taken by Eagle Med to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was admitted in critical condition with head injuries.
McGill said Hughes was not wearing a helmet and the cause of the collision is under investigation.
