Man Struck by Car

Ada firefighters render aid to a man who was hit by a car near the intersection of Third and Johnston Wednesday.

An Ada man was hit by a car while riding a bike Wednesday.

The accident  occurred on Johnston Street just south of Third Street at 3:25 p.m. when John Watson, 37, Ada, was riding a bike north on Johnston in the southbound lane.

When a southbound vehicle approached, Watson veered into the northbound lane into the path of a Mercury car driven north by Toni Chiusano, 47, Ada. Watson and the bike collided with the driver’s side of the Mercury.

“(Mr. Watson) said he was listening to music and was wearing headphones and did not hear the vehicle coming,” Ada Police Officer Brian Engel said in a report.

Watson was stabilized by Ada firefighters and Valley View EMS and taken to Valley View Regional Hospital with lower back pain. Chiusano was not injured.
