Charges of attempted murder were filed last week against a man authorities believe stabbed a man April 7.
The charge was filed against Darin Keith Dixson, 43, Byars, April 15.
Sheriff John Christian said Dixson was captured at a residence in another county April 15.
“We got an anonymous tip that he was at a residence southwest of Stratford,” Christian said. “We contacted Garvin County, got a location on the house and they gave us permission to go over there and search to see if he was at the location.”
Christian and his deputies, along with District 22 Drug Task Force officers and Chickasaw Lighthorse police, moved in on the location.
“When we arrived at the house, he ran out of the back door and into the woods,” he said.
Lighthorse police have a multi-purpose canine which was used to track Dixson.
“We put the dog on the trail and the dog tracked (Dixson) about half a mile into the woods and we found him hiding and took him into custody.”
Dixson is accused of stabbing Leslie Allen Graham, 33, Ada. Graham was found in a vehicle on the shoulder of State Highway 3W three miles south of Asher in Pontotoc County.
“He had multiple stab wounds to his arms and back,” Christian said.
Noting a large of amount of blood loss, officers called for a medical helicopter. Graham was taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and treated for “superficial stab wounds,” Christian said.
Christian said the stabbing occurred at Dixson’s residence. Although Dixson’s address is in Byars, his residence actually lies in Pontotoc County.
Christian believes the stabbing occurred after an argument between the two over a woman and money owed.
Graham was reportedly stabbed at the residence and drove away before being found.
Christian said Dixson has denied stabbing Graham and reportedly said Graham was already injured when he arrived at Dixson’s residence.
Dixson is being held at the Pontotoc County Justice Center without bond.
