Proud Byng graduate
Friday night, May 11, was certainly a night to remember and a night I was proud to be a graduate of Byng High School and also a former Byng FFA officer. I can only brag about all the good I witnessed Friday, May 11, at the annual Byng FFA Banquet. This was my first time to attend such a banquet. My daughter Grace greatly enjoyed her 8th-grade year in agriculture education. My wife, Janel, and I were attending as proud parents, and it was very refreshing to be invited to something so positive. The evening began with a nice meal in the student center and concluded with an awards ceremony in the auditorium. Byng had an impressive FFA program in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, but it’s only improved. The number of awards handed out was staggering. To see such commitment, hard work and dedication from our youth is exciting. I commend our quality agriculture education teachers Mr. Craig Thompson (former Byng FFA standout) and Mr. Bart Everett. I also have to say thank you to Byng Public Schools for recognizing the diverse needs of our student population and providing meaningful vocational programs.
