ADA — Leland Newton celebrated his  90th birthday with a reception May 24 at Wintersmith Park Lodge.  Host was Ed Todd, nephew, from Shreveport, La.,

Newton taught in Ada High School for 13 years and then at East Central University for 20 years.  He has been retired for 28 years.  He received many   flowers and cards.

There were many former students and fellow teachers who spoke of the “good old days” and the things that happened then.

The following joined Leland and Mary Helen Newton for the event.

Out of town guests were Ed Todd, Shreveport, La., Joe and Joan Riddle, Dallas, Texas,  Bennie and Mooky Sanner, Fort Worth, Texas, Marcella Cochrane, Rob Morris and Jackie Brown, all of Shawnee; Mike, Melissa Donald and their daughter, Machenzie, Shreveport, La. Phil, Farris and children, Ben, Hoyet, and Noel Todd, Shreveport, La.  Judy and Dr. Scott Fenton and children, Jessica, Jason and Seth, Plano, Texas.
