A native Oklahoman who has served as the head of Xbox Global Marketing is taking over the reins at LegalShield.
Jeff Bell is the new chief executive officer at LegalShield, an Ada-based company that provides legal service plans for individuals, families and small businesses, the company announced Wednesday. Bell succeeds former CEO Rip Mason, who will serve as executive chairman of the board.
Bell has more than 20 years of corporate leadership and consumer marketing experience with companies including Microsoft, Chrysler, Ford and NBCUniversal, according to a LegalShield news release. As the corporate vice president of global marketing for Xbox, Bell led Microsoft’s video game brand to its first profitable year and earned recognition for several successful franchises.
Bell also led the growth of Xbox LIVE — the online service for the Xbox 360 console — from four million members to 12 million in two years, including the addition of Netflix, according to the news release.
Bell’s resume includes a stint as vice president of DaimlerChrysler’s Chrysler and Jeep divisions. In 2012, he led NBCUniversal’s marketing efforts in health and fitness and developed the “Challenge America” campaign, which became the theme for the “Biggest Loser” TV show.
Bell won Advertising Age’s Interactive Marketer of the Year award in 2005 and was named entertainment marketer of the year in 2007.
Bell’s experience will be a valuable asset for LegalShield, former CEO Mason said in the news release.
“Having Jeff join LegalShield is a great step forward for the company as we continue to raise awareness around the need for affordable legal protection,” Mason said. “Jeff’s ability to raise consumer awareness and lead the industry’s best sales and service team will allow LegalShield to address one of the most important challenges our society faces — ensuring affordable and quality legal counsel for every American.”
Bell said he was looking forward to helping LegalShield become the country’s top provider of legal service plans.
“LegalShield started with a single founder whose vision for success rested heavily on its employees and the success of its sales force,” he said. “It’s a business about product and people, and it’s both exciting and exhilarating to be working in this vibrant new channel.”
