A Konawa toddler’s condition has been upgraded from critical after suffering injuries in a two-vehicle collision Sunday.
The crash occurred on U.S. 377 six miles north of Byng in Seminole County at 2:07 p.m.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Tony Lemay said 34-year-old Jessica Eastwood of Ada was driving a 2008 Ford Escape north when she slammed into the back of a car stalled on the inside lane of U.S. 377.
The impact caused the other vehicle, a 1994 Buick sedan driven byJason Cornish of Ada to run off the road into a median.
A passenger in the Buick, 3-year-old Ezekial Solano of Konawa, was taken by Konawa EMS to Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada and then taken by Life Flight to Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City and admitted in critical condition with neck and head injuries.
On Monday, a spokesperson for the hospital said Ezekial Solano’s condition was upgraded to good.
Both Eastwood and Cornish refused treatment at the scene, Lemay said. Three other passengers in the Buick, 26-year-old Keisha Walker, 7-year-old Chesape Solano and 5-year-old Lynn Solano, all of Konawa, were taken to Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada where they were treated and released.
Lemay said child restraints were not in use but all children were wearing lap belts. Based on his investigation, Lemay listed the cause of the collision as driver inattention and a vehicle stopped in traffic lane.
