KONAWA—Konawa will be receiving a $78,937 grant from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board to do some much-needed repairs to its water infrastructure.
“We got (the grant) approved yesterday,” Rita LoPresto, city engineer, said. “We’re going to use it to fix the water line and replace a back-up pump.” She said the grant will be combined with a Bank First loan of $13,930. The grant and loan will help the town make some needed repairs, she said, but there will still be some issues that need to be addressed.
“We’re excited about it. It’s not going to fix everything but it’s going to be a step in the right direction to permanently fix some issues that we’ve got going on,” she said.
LoPresto said she’s very happy the Oklahoma Water Resources Board decided to give the city a hand.
“I’m just thrilled,” she said.
