For the fourth straight year, a local family will be raising funds for St. Jude's Children’s Cancer Research Hospital via lemonade sales.
The lemonade stand is held annually at the Armstrong residence at 801 E. 15th Street usually on July 4, but this year the event will take place on July 3.
Prudence Armstrong said the family decided to hold the fundraiser on Saturday, July 3, to coincide with the city of Ada’s festivities.
“We’ll be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m..,” Armstrong said. “Last year we raised over $1,000.”
Armstrong said since they raised more than $1,000, an engraved brick was placed in a special walkway at St. Jude’s which is located in Memphis, Tenn. The brick reads, “From the citizens of Ada, Oklahoma.”
The Armstrongs will also sell brownies and cookies. She said they’ve received donated items from Apple Market, Nichols Dollar Saver, Walmart, Twice the Ice and Celebrations Party Store to help with the event.
All profits will be donated and donations of any amount will be accepted.
