Funeral services for Kenneth J. Joplin, 77, Tyler, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rockwall Chapel, Rick Donaho officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Thursday at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.
Mr. Joplin died April 10, 2011. He was born Feb. 27, 1934 in Hennepin, Okla., to Rubin and Hazel (Robertson) Joplin. He was raised in Ada and graduated from Byng High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of personnel Sergeant Major.
He graduated from University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in public accounting and business law. Mr. Joplin worked as a comptroller for Southwestern Bell and retired after 32 years. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and Lion’s Club International, serving as president of the Haltom City, Texas club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters and granddaughter Jessica Shaw.
Survivors include his former wife of 34 years, Shirley Joplin of Irving, Texas; daughters Tamara Breazeale and husband Ken, McKinney, Texas, Lisa Shaw, Lancaster, Texas, Lori Henley, Dallas, and Melissa Hulse and husband Ray, Wylie, Texas; son Kevin Joplin and wife Shelly, Little Elm, Texas; brother James Joplin and wife Judy, Oklahoma City; sister Linda Joplin of Lima, Peru; and grandchildren Spencer and Alexis Breazeale, Samantha and Stephanie Shaw, Chase Prater, Hayden Henley and Breanna, Brady and Brock Joplin.
