A Sulphur man pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to operating a boat while under the influence of alcohol.

United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma Sheldon J. Sperling said Barry Wayne Judd, 63, “unlawfully operated a vessel” on the Lake of the Arbuckles on or about May 17, 2008 with a blood alcohol concentration in excess of 0.08 grams per milliliter.

The lake is federally regulated and is located in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

“Charges arose from an investigation by the National Park Service, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Murray County Sheriff’s Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Sperling said. “The statutory range of punishment is not more than six months in prison and up to $5,000 in fines.”
