A man was found dead from what is believed to be a suicide at the Ada City Jail Wednesday.

Officials would not release a name of the deceased, but City Public Information Officer Mark Bratcher did say it was a 42-year-old man from Anadarko who was in jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

“He apparently hanged himself with his shirt,” Bratcher said.

The man was booked into the jail at 6:12 p.m., was alone in his cell and jailers found him at 11 p.m. during cell checks which are conducted every 30 minutes, Bratcher said.

Ada Police Chief Mike Miller called the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and state jail inspectors to investigate the incident.
