ADA — Robert Wayne Lynch, 50, Stratford, was arrested on suspicion of first degree burglary and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Monday, Feb. 27, Ada Central Dispatch received a 911 call of a home invasion-break-in at 12:54 a.m. from Helen Pinley, Ada.

Pinley told Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Deputies Brad Holloway and Brian Engel that Lynch came to her residence about 5 miles east of Ada. According to the deputies’ report, Pinley said Lynch was intoxicated and when she refused to speak with Lynch, he used a large axe to break down the front door. Pinley said Lynch then threatened to kill her.

Jerry Pinley, also in the home, was awakened. He confronted Lynch with a shotgun and told him to leave, according to reports. Lynch left the scene in his 1995 Saturn and was located about an hour later northwest of Stratford.

Deputies said Lynch admitted to breaking Helen Pinley’s front door with the axe. A large axe was found inside Lynch’s car by deputies and retained as evidence.

Lynch will appear in district court at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Garvin County Sheriff’s deputies, Stratford Police Department and Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department assisted the Pontotoc County deputies in apprehending Lynch, who was transported to the Pontotoc County jail.
