SULPHUR — The Chickasaw Nation will host the annual Christmas Celebration and Holiday Fine Arts Market 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, 867 Cooper Memorial Road.
Enjoy a variety of holiday activities including pictures with Santa, a Christmas concert performed by the Chickasaw Language Committee, ornament workshops, make-and-take crafts, stomp dance demonstrations and more.
Christmas films will be shown in the Anoli’ Theater. “Frosty the Snowman” will play at 10 a.m. followed by “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at 10:30 a.m. “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” will begin at noon and “Polar Express” will show at 2:30 p.m.
The Celebration of Lights display will be available for viewing from 6-9 p.m. Traditional Christmas themes and Chickasaw greetings are included in the luminescent light display. The Celebration of Lights will continue through Sunday, Dec. 31.
The Holiday Fine Arts Market features an array of art by Chickasaw artists.
Several renowned artists will be present at the Fine Arts Market including Melvin Burris, Beverly Callahan, Cheryl Clary, Linda Sue Edgar, Wayne Edgar, Sue Fish, Gerald Hart, Peggy Immohotichey, Dustin Mater, Doneeta Nowlin, Vickie Penner, Tammy Stick, Joanna Underwood-Blackburn, Ashley Wallace, Jeremy Wallace, Margaret Wheeler, Taloa Underwood, Daniel Worcester and LaVonne Wyatt.
Festivities are open to the public at no charge.
In observance of Christmas, the Chickasaw Cultural Center will be closed Sunday, Dec. 24, through Tuesday, Dec. 26.
