ADA — East Central Oklahoma Blood Institute has brewed-up a caldron of donor fun to celebrate the Halloween holiday and save lives. The Oklahoma Blood Institute especially needs Type A and Type O donations at this time. Supplies are dwindling faster than can be replenished and in emergencies, patients don’t stand a ghost of a chance if blood is not on the shelf.

East Central Oklahoma Blood Institute hopes to be frightfully busy from Monday, Oct. 23, through Saturday, Oct. 28, welcoming volunteer blood donors. Everyone who donates will receive an OBI key chain with safety light, plus a bag of sweet treats. While supplies last, Frontier City is offering Oklahoma Blood Institute blood donors two-for-one Fright Fest Admission, valid through Oct. 29, which normally is priced at $32.99 plus tax per person.

Every donor can choose a Free OU red or OSU orange “Out for Blood” T-shirt and can enter to win a football autographed by Bob Stoops or Mike Gundy. Donors will also receive double Members for Life points for use in our online stores as well as free health checks. On Friday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. blood center donors will be treated to grilled hot dogs with all the trimmings.

“We are sincerely appreciative of all our loyal blood donors,” said Ronald O. Gilcher, M.D., FACP, president, CEO and medical director for the Oklahoma Blood Institute. “It is our sincere hope that this light-hearted week of holiday fun will help reduce the stress on our community blood inventories so that we can remain prepared to provide the daily patient needs and emergencies.”
