The Women’s Business Center (WBC) of Rural Enterprises of Oklahoma Inc. (REI), a Durant-based economic development agency, will present a free Women’s Biz Workshop in Sulphur in sponsorship with local organizations.
The workshop, “Entrepreneurship 101,” is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Murray County Expo Center, 4000 W. Highway 7, in Sulphur. There is no deadline for registration, but registration is required online at www.ruralenterprises.com.
Presenters are Dewey Brandon, Oklahoma Tax Commission; Debbie Sharp, OSU Cooperative Extension and Dr. Barbara Rackley, Coordinator, REI’s Women’s Business Center.
This workshop takes the attendee through many steps of business ownership. Participants will learn types of business structures and advantages and disadvantages of each; what permits and licenses are required and how to obtain them; and reporting procedures for taxes.
Every business must market its products and/or services to the public. The marketing presentation will provide an understanding of this process and give some ideas how to market without overextending the marketing budget.
When good hospitality and quality customer service are provided, satisfied customers are born. Learn simple tips on things you can do in your business to build customer satisfaction.
Although these workshops are designed primarily for women, all entrepreneurs and business owners are invited to attend. There will be ample time for participants to talk with the presenters.
Co-sponsors for the workshop are OSU Cooperative Extension, Sulphur Chamber of Commerce, Davis Chamber of Commerce, Sulphur Main Street, Southern Oklahoma Technology Center and REI’s Women’s Business Center. Funded in part by the US Small Business Administration, the WBC is celebrating 10 years of service to women entrepreneurs.
