ADA — East Central University’s chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honorary organization, conducts its second annual Week of Work in the Hammond Heights neighborhood in Ada. The project will last through Friday. Students, faculty members, other members of the ECU community as well as members of the Ada community will work from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday.

This year an art camp for children will be held daily from 4-6 p.m. at St. James Church of God in Christ, 3015 N. Townsend. A barbeque for the residents and volunteers will conclude the week Friday at 6 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help with cleaning, yard work, painting, gardening, tree planting, home repair and light construction. Volunteers are welcome to bring any tools available, especially yard tools. Those having construction skills are encouraged to lend help, through anyone willing to assist will be appreciated and may show up any time during the week. The project is funded through a $1,000 chapter activity grant and support from local businesses.
