An Edna Donley Unit of Distinction Award was presented to the Pontotoc County unit of the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association at a leadership workshop conducted in Oklahoma City by leaders of OREB March 23. Dr. Charles Barrick, Ada, left, president of the county unit, accepted the award from Chuck Hopkins, Stillwater, OREA president. The award recognizes units that achieved certain activity requirements during the past year. The late Edna Donley, for whom the award is named, was a former executive director of OREA and a national Teacher of the Year. the workshop in Oklahoma City was one of six being conducted this spring primarily for officers of local retired educator units. Program topics included legislation, membership, teachers retirement system, health insurance and responsibilities of unit officers.
