ADA — Courtney Hardin, a 2002 graduate of East Central University, has been named director of alumni relations at ECU, responsible for developing activities, promotions and special events involving alumni and serving as executive director of the ECU Alumni Association.

Hardin replaces Karen Hudson who is now ECU's acting vice president for institutional advancement.

"I am excited to be back at ECU," Hardin said. "I had such a great experience as a student here, and I'm looking forward to working with alumni who have the same pride in our university."

She returned to ECU from Cameron University in Lawton where she had been director of student activities since 2004.

Hardin plans to kick off an Alumni Association membership drive next fall.

"And we really want to focus on increasing the sponsorship of and contributions to our Student Alumni College Enhancement Fund," she said.

The fund provides financial support that allows students to participate in special activities such as conferences, contests and classroom projects that are not covered by institutional funds or student fees.

Hardin also will assist with development and fund-raising activities and government relations of the university, the Alumni Association and the ECU Foundation Inc. She will produce "The Columns" alumni magazine, maintain alumni database records and the Alumni Association's web page and coordinate meetings and activities of the association's board of directors.

She received a bachelor's degree in human services counseling/services to the deaf from ECU and a master of education degree in educational leadership, counseling and foundations, with an emphasis on higher education, in 2004 from the University of Arkansas. As a graduate assistant at UA she worked as an organizational adviser for campus activities.

A graduate of Velma-Alma High School, she is the daughter of David and Vera Hardin of Velma.
