Being the first 30-day interval since a letter of reprimand was placed in City Manager David Hathcoat’s personnel file, Ada City Council met in executive session for more than two-and-a-half hours.
At 5:55 p.m. Monday evening, all five council members adjourned to executive session. After 8:30 p.m., council reconvened and tabled the matter until the next council meeting April 19.
After allegations were made Hathcoat was gambling on city time, council placed a letter of reprimand in his personnel file and placed him on a 90-day probation as of Feb. 16.
The letter listed the following stipulations: Hathcoat is to continue counseling, be accountable for work hours and be available during working business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour lunch, and he is to be accountable for work accomplished.
In other business, council voted unanimously to re-zone 1413 Arlington from a one-family district to a neighborhood commercial district. Attorney Ken Johnson was present, representing Debbie Fleet of DK’s Nutrition Center, Inc. He said the house at the location will be torn down and Fleet will rebuild a structure looking like a Victorian home.
Council also approved an agreement for a sub-grant of Emergency Management Performance Grant Program valued at $10,000. Hathcoat reported the sub-grant is done yearly.
