Several area agencies will provide free services for veterans on Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11.
The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual Veterans Day Breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to volunteer to serve veterans, please phone 580-332-2506 ext 2 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In Konawa, a breakfast honoring local veterans and their families will be held at the Konawa American Legion Hut. Serving times begin at 7 a.m.
The menu consists of scrambled eggs, ham, biscuits and gravy, along with coffee and juice. The annual breakfast is sponsored by members of the Konawa American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #70.
Veterans and their families will also be honored at two Konawa School assemblies held on the same day. The Konawa Elementary Assembly will begin at 10 a.m. and the chapters of the BPA and FCCLA will sponsor their assembly at 1 p.m. at the Konawa School P.A.C., with a reception to follow in the high school student center. Everyone is invited to attend.
According to the Web site, Chili’s restaurants will honor veterans Thursday as well. Veterans can get a free choice of one of six entrees. Applebee’s restaurants has a similar offer of a free meal for veterans, according to their Website.
Latta DECA will host its annual Veterans Day Celebration at 9 a.m. for the elementary celebration and at 10:30 a.m. for the high school celebration. The event will be held at the Latta High School Auditorium and will feature Veterans receiving high school diplomas. All Veterans are invited and will receive two tickets to the Latta Thanksgiving Dinner. The day will feature the fifth and sixth grade elementary choir and the high school and junior high choirs. The theme for the day is “We Will Never Forget.”
A blood drive will be held in the high school library by the Latta National Honor Society.
