COALGATE — According to the Oklahoma Blood Institute web site 17,000 red blood cells can be manufactured per second in the human body’s amazing “reproduction line” and seven times that amount when stress precipitates a need.

Also, did you know that if you live to the age of 72, there is a 95 percent chance that you will have a need for blood products during your lifetime?

You have the opportunity to give this gift of life on Thursday, June 22, at the Hurley Health Clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The goal is 40 pints and each donor will receive a free T-shirt.

If you would like more information, contact Terry Rice or visit Oklahoma Blood Institute web site at www.obi.org.

The 2006 Summer Reading Program continues at the Coal County Public Library on Tuesday, June 27, with “Mystery and Merriment of MAGIC.”

Russell Turner has been entertaining audiences for over 25 years with a unique style of his own that is both amazing and amusing. He was selected as magical entertainer of the year by Ring 75 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and his act won first place at an area magicians’ convention.

Bring your children ages 5-12 years to the library on Tuesday at 2 p.m. to participate in this program filled with fun and fantasy.

This program was made possible through funding by the Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation.
