COALGATE — A Coal County female jail administrator who was being investigated for allegedly having sex with male prisoner trustee has been charged with second degree rape, according to Coal County Sheriff Roy Deck.

Tammy Lynn Holt was reportedly discovered Aug. 16 by Deck having sex with the trustee in the law library at the Coal County Courthouse.

The penalty for such a crime is not less than one year and not more than 15 years in the state penitentiary.

OSBI Special Agent David Houston had been investigating the incident, and charges were filed Oct. 17 in District Court, Coal County. According to an affidavit filed with Coal County District Court, Holt admitted during two interviews with Houston that she had sexual intercourse with the trustee in the law library.

In an initial appearance order, Holt entered a plea of not guilty.
