The First United Methodist Church of Ada in conjunction with the Today Show Toy Drive, sponsored a free Christmas gift giveaway Thursday.

The Project Noel store was set up in the Christian Life Center and held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The gifts included toys, food and household items.

80,000 gifts are being provided through Methodist churches all over Oklahoma. Ada’s First United Methodist Church distributed over 5,000 gifts to 124 families from the Ada area. 3,300 gifts were made available from the Today Show. East Central University donated many items left over from a toy drive it sponsored previously. Church members also donated many items to the project.

This is the 14th year for the Today Show annual Holiday Toy and Gift Drive for needy families in the United States. The donated gifts are given to families who often cannot afford to buy presents. The gifts are given to adults so that children can receive gifts from loved ones, not a charity.

These items go to 210 organizations in all 50 states reaching millions of kids.
