Tom Runnells, volunteer director of Ada Area Lighting Committee, said Wintersmith Park’s annual Christmas lights will be coming on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

“This will be our 16th year,” Runnells said.  “It will start on Tuesday, Nov. 23 and go through Dec. 31.”

He said the donation shack near the park entrance will be open from 6-10 p.m.  Santa Claus will be visiting the shack a few nights and candy canes will be given to visitors.

“All donations go to buy more lights,” he said.

Runnells said volunteers from civic groups, businesses and churches are needed to run the donation shack.

“I have a lot of nights full but I always have weekend problems,” he said.

To volunteer, contact Runnells at (580) 399-4518.

He said the park lights draw a lot of people from around the area.

“Buses come through from out of town,” he said.  “You can walk around the park on the trail or you can drive around.”
