DURANT — Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Okla. today announced that it will hold its second annual Pow-Wow Saturday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the beautiful Choctaw Coliseum, adjacent to the casino.  Admission is free.  The Pow-Wow celebrates the rich culture and heritage of the Choctaw Nation.

“The Pow-Wow is a special time for the Choctaw Nation to celebrate what makes us the great nation we are,” said Janie Dillard, Choctaw Nation’s executive gaming director.  “The Pow-Wow also allows members of the surrounding communities to come experience our culture in a way that is not usually accessible to those outside the Choctaw Nation.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to experience many aspects of the Choctaw Nation including authentic Native American foods, arts, crafts and jewelry, as well as the second Annual Native American Dance Competition.

The schedule of events is as follows:

10 am – noon: Gourd Dance

Noon: Grand Entry (all dancers)

5 pm: Choctaw Code Talkers Ceremony

5 pm – 7 p.m.: Gourd Dance

7 pm: Grand Entry (all dancers)

7:30 pm: Dance Competition
