Chickasaw Nation Senior Citizens recently returned from Albuquerque, N.M., where the group attended the Gathering of Nations and the Miss Indian World competition.

The group spent one day sight seeing in Old Town and one day in Sante Fe, N.M. Violet Johns, Plains Cree/Taino, from Alberta, Canada, was crowned as the new Miss Indian World 2006/2007.

Former Chickasaw Princess Shelly Wall competed for the crown of Miss Indian World. More than 10,000 people attended the three-day event that had more than 3,000 dancers.

The Ada site also took seniors from Connerville and Tishomingo.
