A burn ban issued for Pontotoc County was extended for one more week Monday.
The southern half of the county received plenty of rain but there are areas still with draught conditions.
“The Fittstown, Roff, Stonewall area and over toward Lula is looking pretty good,” said Chad Letellier, Pontotoc County Emergency Management director. “Out toward Vanoss and Oil Center, it’s still pretty dry.”
Letellier said the ban will be reevaluated next Monday.
“Officially, the north and western parts of the county haven’t received any rain so they decided to keep it on for another week,” Letellier said. “Hopefully, we’ll get some rain this week and let it green up a little more.”
