Asher man dies in wreck Tuesday

An Asher resident died Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle wreck in Pottawatomie County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred at 5:34 p.m. on U.S. 177 six miles north of Asher.

OHP Tooper Nathan Battershell said Jarate Dewayne Condit, 23, was driving a Ford Crown Victoria north when he ran off the road and crashed into concrete culvert. A car then became engulfed in flames.

Conduit was pronounced dead at the scene, Battershell said.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation.

Pottawatomie County sheriff’s deputies, Asher police, REACT Ambulance Service and Asher firefighters also responded.
