Edmon Perkins Jr. received third-place honors for his “Stone Polish Bowl”  and the prestigious Heritage Award Ribbon for his replica of the “Choctaw Trail of Tears Coil Bowl.”

The Heritage Award is presented by the judges to those items that promote and educate those practices that are specific to the Choctaw culture.  Only five were presented at this year’s show. Perkins has won previous awards in the sculpture and pottery category and is also a previous recipient of the Heritage Award ribbon.

These awards were presented at the third annual Choctaw Indian Art Show and Sale held during the annual tribal Labor Day Festival at Tuskahoma.  Participants have six categories of entry and must document their tribal membership in the Choctaw tribe of Oklahoma.

Perkins and his wife, Lorene, have two adult children and live in Atwood.
