Agri-business and small-business owners have the opportunity to attend an information-packed conference July 20 at Eastern Oklahoma State College’s McAlester campus.

Attendees will be able to choose from 10 different sessions, such as small-business development and small-business grants, aquaponics, greenhouses and marketing of those products. There will also be sessions on leasing rates; legal and liability issues for hunting, recreation and grazing; value-added beef and the Vac 45 program; new tax law and LLCs; marketing through social media; oil and gas updates; the Food Modernization and Home Bakery Act; Annie’s Project; and federal cost-share programs.

Agri-tourism venue owners will be part of the luncheon panel discussion.

This Women in Ag and Small Business Conference is being presented by Ouachita Mountains RC&D, the Eastern Oklahoma State College Agricultural Department, OSU Extension, Southeast Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Choctaw Nation Agricultural Outreach and many other sponsors. The registration fee is $20, which includes lunch.

Women who are agricultural producers from 11 southeast Oklahoma counties will be honored, with one woman being chosen at the conference as the Ag Woman of the Year. Exhibits and door prizes will also be part of the conference.
