Charlotte Harris recently solved the mystery that has puzzled her for several months.
The Ada woman was trying to identify the person who painted a Tulsa cityscape, which shows Cheyenne Street in the 1960s. Harris bought the painting for $29.99 at the Ada Goodwill store, then worked on tracking down the artist.
After several months of sleuthing, Harris learned that the painting was the work of George Kountoupis, a well-known Tulsa artist. Better yet, a local artist told her that the painting might be worth as much as $7,500 — approximately 250 times what she paid for it.
“That made me excited,” Harris said Tuesday. “And now that I’ve read about him, probably true.”
