ADA — Local residents and businesses have responded to Camp Fire USA’s “Salute To The Troops” project. The Camp Fire Annual Candy Sale has resulted in several boxes of candy being sold to support men and women who are in the Armed Forces. Instead of keeping the candy for themselves , many Ada residents and businesses such as Ada Glass and Window have purchased more than 150 boxes of candy to be sent to the troops. Camp Fire USA has made arrangements with the USO to ship candy to our service men and women. A “Salute To The Troops” card is attached to each box of candy. The card says, “Thank you for your service to our country!” The card also has a place for the name of the donor. Many who purchase the candy for the troops say that they can’t eat candy because of diet restrictions but this way they can still support the Camp Fire kids and at the same time say “thank you” to our troops. Since Camp Fire kids and at the same time say “thank you” to our troops. Since Camp Fire USA is a not-for-profit United Way agency, the cost of the candy ($75 per case at $5 per box) is 100 percent tax deductible.

The Camp Fire Candy Sale continues through Feb. 13. For information about buying Camp Fire candy for yourself or for the troops, phone the local Camp Fire office at (580) 332-1360.
