Ada Prime Timers met at JD’s Cafe on Dec. 21 for the regular monthly meeting and buffet dinner.  After dinner, President Roberto Escamilla opened the meeting by asking the secretary to read the November minutes which were approved as read.  Bryna Lane gave the treasurer’s report.

Guests Sam Gurley and Rozzie Purdy were welcomed. 

December birthdays were recognized.

Bernice Lotler, waitress, was called back into the meeting where the president expressed appreciation for her excellent service throughout the year.  He also expressed thanks to the restaurant staff for their faithful service.  Bryna Lane presented Bernice with a monetary gift from the group.

Members pledged allegiance to the flag led by the president and George Seaton gave the invocation.

 Escamilla expressed his thanks to the officers for their service during the year and his pleasure in serving as president.  He welcomed Tom Stephens who will serve in that capacity in 2011.  Stephens addressed the group and announced that the January program will be presented by member, Ruth Ann Taylor, who will share about her experiences on a trip to Israel.  In February Josh and Micah Henson with present the program telling of their missionary trip to an orphanage in the Ukraine.  He asked for suggestions for programs for the remainder of 2011.

George Seaton entertained the group with humorous stories.

The president introduced Rozzie Purdy who is presently a band teacher in the Wayne Public Schools and also serves in the music ministry at the First United Methodist Church.  Purdy is a graduate of East Central University and the University of Oklahoma and is proficient at the piano, organ and trumpet. She is well known in the community for her skills and performances in these areas and she spends a great deal of her time playing for many functions in the area.  Among those functions, she will be performing at the Vision Bank on Thursday and Friday of this week.

Purdy presented a program of Christmas music on the piano.  She began by playing "It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and continued with medleys of Christmas songs.  The group joined in singing several old favorites, and Purdy ended the program with a  performance of "Sleigh Ride."
