An Ada man received serious injuries after a rollover wreck west of Ada Friday.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper James McKee said the wreck occurred just after midnight on State Highway 19 six-and-a-half miles west of Ada.

Shawn D. Lewis, 30, was driving a 2001 Ford pickup west on SH 19 when he ran off the road to the right. He then over corrected and ran off the road to the left causing the vehicle to overturn two-and-a-quarter times, McKee said.

Lewis was thrown three feet from the wreckage. He was taken by Air Evac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted with head, arm, trunk internal, trunk external and leg injuries.

A spokesperson with OUMC said Friday Lewis remains in critical condition. McKee said Lewis was not wearing a seat belt and listed the cause of the crash as unsafe speed on a curve or turn.

Firefighters from Pickett and Ada, Valley View EMS, Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies and Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse police also responded.
