Fatal Crash

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated a crash which left an Ada man dead and another man injured Friday.

An Ada man died and another man was injured after colliding with a bridge and a semi truck at 7:11 p.m. Friday.

Joseph Thomas Tiger, 25, Ada, died at the scene from massive injuries. Tiger was a passenger in a 2001 Mercury Sable driven by Dale Ray Freeman, 48, Burkburnett, Texaas.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Ronnie Hampton said Freeman was driving east on County Road 1570 (Farm to Market Road) when he ran off the road to the right and hit the Rocky Creek bridge.

After hitting the concrete bridge railing, the car spun around one-and-a-half times and collided with a semi truck being driven west on CR 1570 by Larry C. Hull, 32, Pineville, La.

Freeman was removed from the wreckage by firefighters and taken to a Valley View EMS ambulance where paramedics worked to stabilize him before taking him by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was admitted in critical condition with head and internal injuries.

Hull received only minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Hampton said the cause of the wreck and the condition of the driver are under investigation. Firefighters from Pickett, Ada and Vanoss, Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies and Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse police also responded.

Emergency workers were already working a separate crash in the Vanoss area when they were called to this crash. More information will be available in Monday’s edition of Ada Evening News.
