ADA — An Ada man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly attempting to murder his former girlfriend and a friend.

Tommy Ellis, 23, according to a police report went to his former girlfriend’s house and stabbed her and a male friend who was staying at her house.

Heather Gathers, Ellis’s former girlfriend, told police Ellis had been removed from her house Monday. She said Ellis had made threats to kill her and she asked her friend Luke Tatum to stay with her that evening.

Later that night Tatum said he was awakened by Ellis stabbing him. After a struggle, Tatum told police he restrained Ellis and Gathers took the two knives Ellis was using away from him. Tatum suffered a wound to his right arm in the elbow area, and Gathers had been stabbed in the right hip area.

After Ellis was restrained, Gathers left her house seeking the help of her neighbor, asking her to dial 911. At this time Gathers still had one of the knives Ellis reportedly used in her possession. Leaving the knife near the neighbor’s back door, Gathers returned to her home when the police arrived.

Ellis was escorted from the house and placed under arrest for the charge of attempted first-degree murder.
