ADA — Ada High will celebrate the 40th annual Earth Day with ‘Lunch on the Lawn’ at noon Thursday.
Earth Day was established in 1970, and the Science Club and several other AHS organizations, is hosting “Lunch on the Lawn”.
Students and faculty are encouraged to attend. Free food (hotdogs and chips) will be provided by Citizen’s Bank or students may take their own lunch and join in on the fun.
Ada High’s musical talent will entertain. Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be managing games. ProStart will provide dessert for $1 per serving.
The physics class will have an “Earth Day Egg Drop” and art students will conduct a small show.
According to Science Club President Colton Lott, the organization will have a Mentos and Diet Coke “reaction” and will be selling UV bead bracelets for $1 or $2 depending on type. Money from these bracelets will go to WildCare, which takes care of orphaned or injured animals across the state. In addition, students can donate $5 to WildCare for one hour of community service. If a club or organization has something that they can provide to Lunch on the Lawn, contact Kay Gamble.
Students are encouraged to enjoy the community of Ada High, share a meal and use no gas to get to lunch, Lott said.
“This will be a memorable and fun event that no student will want to miss,” he said.
