ADA—Mike Southard, Ada Jobs Foundation president, said Ada’s economy has maintained strong numbers.
Southard said Oklahoma Tax Commissioner reported Ada’s sales tax receipts for December—which reflects purchases made in October—increased by $30,000 compared to 2009 figures.
“Four out of six months in this fiscal year have shown growth over 2009,” Southard said.
Although workforce numbers for October came in behind 2009’s figures, Southard said September through December of 2009 were the largest workforce counts in history for Ada.
He said the unemployment rate changed to 5.2 percent from 4.9 percent in October but remain below Oklahoma’s unemployment rate for October (6.9 percent) as well as the nation’s (9.6 percent).
