Champ Devere (brothers Niles, Beau, and Kyle Johnson) recently performed in Nashville at Joey and Rory’s annual Bib and Buckle Festival. The performance was billed as a Can You Duet Reunion, the TV show that launched Joey and Rory’s careers. In the premiere season of CMT’s Can You Duet, Niles and Beau made the Top Twenty from more than 7,000 contestants.
Naomi and Wynona Judd made an appearance at the reunion. Naomi has served as a judge for the television show in its two seasons. During their performance, the Johnson brothers were accompanied by nationally-known guitarist, Barry Waldrep.
While in Nashville, the Johnson family was treated by Joey and Rory, the husband and wife singer/songwriting team of Joey Martin and Rory Feek, to a tour of their home, a remarkable 1871 farmhouse. Joey and Rory are best known for their hit song “Cheater Cheater,” and Rory has also written numerous hit songs, including “I’m a Little More Country than That” and “Some Beach” by Ada native, Blake Shelton. The trio returned to Oklahoma to open for the Bellamy Brothers at the National Sand Bass Festival.
The Johnson brothers grew up in Konawa. They are the sons of Arthur and Sandra Johnson.
