East Central University will host a retirement celebration for outgoing President John Hargrave at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 in Foundation Hall at the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center on the university’s main campus in Ada.
Hargrave, the university’s eighth president, is set to retire March 1.
A come-and-go reception will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., before the celebration. Refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to all.
The celebration dinner will feature a dance and performances by the Dave Thomason Band.
Former Oklahoma Gov. George Nigh and Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby will be featured speakers at the event. The governors will be joined by Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Chancellor Glen Johnson, OSRHE Regent Mike Turpen, Regional University System of Oklahoma Regent Connie Reilly and former ECU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Duane Anderson.
The cost to attend the celebration is $75 per person and includes programmed events, dinner and dancing. Tables may be sponsored for up to eight people for $1,500 per table. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available.
All proceeds will be donated to the ECU Foundation, Inc.
