A judge has denied bail for a 15-year-old suspect in the deaths of two elderly Oklahoma City residents who died in a house fire.
The Oklahoman reports that Oklahoma County Special Judge Russell Hall told the teenager that he was being held on complaints of murder and arson. Hall said the boy would have an attorney at a later hearing.
Officials say the youth used a Molotov cocktail to set fire to the home, which resulted in the deaths of 87-year-old Boyd Haynes and 86-year-old Doris Haynes. The medical examiner’s office says they died from smoke inhalation.
Court papers show that the boy denied to police that he set the fire, but said he had played with Molotov cocktails in the neighborhood.
Formal charges are pending.
