No. 6 Savages stuff Ada

Tecumseh —

Ada is through with Tecumseh this season.

You can’t help think that the Cougars are probably glad, after suffering a 76-62 setback to the host and Class 4A sixth-ranked Savages Tuesday night.

Ada, which fell to 5-3 on the season, has suffered all three of its losses at the hands of Tecumseh this season. The Cougars lost to the Savages in the finals of the Oklahoma Baptist Bison Invitational in Shawnee and later suffered a home loss to Tecumseh, which now stands at a perfect 10-0 on the year.

“They’re good and we’re done with them,” said Ada head coach Ron Anderson. “Obviously, we can play with a good team and we showed it in the second half. But our warm-ups were horrible and our first half was horrible.”

Indeed Ada was sluggish from the outset as the Savages jumped out to an 18-6 advantage after just one quarter and cruised on to a 42-23 halftime lead.

Tecumseh even built a 24-point lead twice, early in the second half. But suffocating Cougar defensive pressure enabled Ada to get back into the game. Twice in the fourth quarter, the Cougars trimmed the deficit to 10, but were unable to get closer.

While a questionable call or two certainly didn’t dictate the outcome of Ada’s 10-7 loss to Seminole on Senior Night Tuesday at Cougar Field, one could make a valid argument that it certainly changed the momentum of the game.
