Cougar wrestlers about to get busy

Ada —

The Ada High School wrestling team has barely had a chance to prove itself.

That will change soon as the Cougars embark on a busy January schedule which begins on Friday in the McAlester Tournament.

Ada has a 2-1 dual record (wins over Tecumseh and McLoud, along with a loss to Durant) this season and has competed in only one tournament (at Bristow) with a limited number of participants.

The Cougars’ deep run into the football playoffs this past fall, with several forfeit victories in their duals, has led to limited mat time for head coach Kyle Bohannon’s grapplers.

Ada had three wrestlers qualify for state with one state placer last year, but all three have graduated. Now the Cougars must turn to a pair of seniors and three juniors to provide the necessary leadership.
