NOTEWORTHY:  Latta pitcher Austin Simpson continued his strong fall, allowing just one run on four hits to help the Class A No. 7 Panthers upset No. 3 Silo Tuesday at Panther Park. Simpson stayed unbeaten at 5-0 on the year. Latta scored four runs in the bottom of the first, added two more in the fifth and then ended the game via the run-rule with four more in the sixth. Latta pounded out 10 hits in the win. Kade Hayes, Parker Henderson, Treston Tully and Tristan Monroe all had two hits (including a double each) apiece for the Panthers. Henderson and Tully both finished with two RBIs. 

Team Record: Latta 13-6.

NOTEWORTHY: Dalton Reed allowed just three hits and struck out four over six innings as Roff (No. 4 in Class A) topped Stuart, 3-0, Tuesday in a seven-inning contest. Reed allowed no walks in raising his season record to 4-2. Cruz Villafranco led the Tiger offense by going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Roff scored two runs in the second and added one more in the fifth while compiling nine hits.

Record: Roff is 15-6

Up Next: Roff vs. Red Oak, 3:30 p.m.; Roff vs. Rock Creek, 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Creek Festival.

  • Cougs continue to win Ada stretches win streak to seven

    Gabe Simons jump-started the Ada offense with his three-run homer to left field in the bottom of the second before the Cougars pushed across six more runs in the bottom of the fourth, sending Sulphur packing 9-1 Thursday evening at Cougar Field.

    As senior Walker Whitworth was bombing in the final five 3-point shots of his remarkable Ada High career, he was resetting the school’s triples record at 151. Across the way at the A-Town Barber Shop, barber Erick Gray did not even know he owned the record of 146, much less that someone was breaking it.
