Lady Cougars compete at Tish Tournament

The Ada Lady Cougars outhit Tishomingo 9-7 but couldn’t overcome seven errors in an 8-7 loss to the host Lady Indians in their final game of the Tishomingo Tournament this past weekend.

In other games at Tish, Ada whipped Marietta 9-2, blasted Calera 12-1, blanked the Tish JV 15-0 and dropped a 5-2 decision to Turner.

Tishomingo 9, Ada 7

Ada committed four errors in the bottom of the third that led to six Tishomingo runs that put the hosts on top for good. The big THS inning erased an early 2-0 Lady Cougar lead.

Ada trailed 8-4 heading into the fifth and scored three runs to get close but couldn’t quite catch the Lady Indians. Kaitlyn Redman had an RBI single in the final frame, while two more runners scored on an error.

Natalie Keel and Lindy Robinson both had two hits apiece for Ada, while Kendal Johnson went 1-for-2 with a double.

 Ada hurler Morganne Freeman was credited with just one earned run while striking out three and walking just one.

Ada 9, Marietta 2

The Lady Cougars scored seven runs in the bottom of the third to surge past Marietta. Tara Horton and Kaitlyn Redman each had RBI singles during the Ada volley. Redman had started the inning off with a double.

Ada scored a pair of runs on three hits in the fourth, and the big blow was an RBI double by Brittany Lee.

Horton also had two hits for Ada, while Lee finished with two RBIs. Kendal Johnson added a double to Ada’s seven-hit attack.

Ada 12, Calera 1

Ada pitcher Morganne Freeman tossed a four-inning no-hitter, and the Lady Cougars took advantage of eight Calera errors.

Ada had six hits by six different batters in the contest. Alexis Walker and Brittany Lee both had doubles for the locals, while Kendal Johnson scored three runs.

Ada 15, Tish JV 0

Kendal Johnson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored to lead Ada in the three-inning run-rule game.

Lindi Robinson struck out three and walked one to earn the mound win.

Ada put the game out of reach with an eight-run outburst in the top of the second.

 Natalie Keel, Alexis Walker, Elizabeth Redman and Brooklyn Cupps also added two hits each as Ada banged out 15 total hits. Morgan Galbreath’s double was Ada’s only extra-base hit in the game.

Turner 5, Ada 2

Turner jumped out on top with a 4-0 lead with two runs in both the first and second innings, and Ada couldn’t catch up.

Kendal Johnson went 2-for-2 and had the only hits of the game for the Lady Cougars.

Turner pitcher Jacey Henry struck out six and walked just one in a solid mound effort for Turner.

Ada (5-7) played at Konawa on Monday and is scheduled to travel to Dale this evening for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
