Lady Tigers' bats come alive for two wins over OBU

Shawnee —  

The East Central University softball team picked up two more non-conference wins with 7-3 and 9-2 wins over Oklahoma Baptist at Lady Bison Field.

The Lady Tigers (18-6) recorded a total of 21 hits and allowed just nine in the two games.  Senior Shelby Simmons led the team with four hits, a .571 average and added four RBIs while fellow senior Ali Manship tallied three hits a .429 average and five RBIs.

ECU hit .350 as a team and allowed just a .170 average.

Sophomore Brianna Nunley and freshman Lacey Paulk earned wins in the circle for the Lady Tigers.  Paulk allowed five hits and recorded five strikeouts in the opening game and Nunley allowed four hits and tallied 10 strikeouts in the night cap.

The Lady Tigers will return home for a series with the other OBU, as Ouachita Baptist comes to Ada for a four-game series, March 15-16 at Lady Tiger Field.  Friday’s double-header is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and Saturday’s at noon.
