Ada Lady Cougars dominate Class 4A Regional

Tulsa — The Ada High School girls’ tennis team earned championships in all four flights in capturing a Class 4A regional championship on Monday at the Grand Racket Club.

The Lady Cougars scored a perfect 48 points, which was nine better than second-place Harrah (39).

Ada’s domination was evident as the Lady Cougars won all of their finals matches in straight sets.

At No. 1 Singles, Ada’s Taylor Wood claimed a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Harrah’s Laine Campfield for the crown. At No. 2 Singles, the Lady Cougars’ Haley Dean was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Sperry’s Sidney Pisachubbe for a championship.

In doubles play, Natalie Keel and Karsen Sheffield combined for a 6-0, 6-1 decision over the Harrah team of Christian and Griffin at No. 1 Doubles to earn first place and Meneé Thomsen and Mikala Whelchel teamed up for a 6-0, 6-2 win over Harrah’s Clark and Ridley for the No. 2 doubles title.

Ada heads to the Class 4A state championships set for this Friday and Saturday at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.
